Classroom Management
My experience as an educator has strengthened my commitment to the use of positive behavioral supports as an alternative to traditional classroom management. I believe that when an instructor involves a student in their own learning and their own discipline, the student is more inclined to take ownership of their work and their behavior. I also have seen how successful these positive management techniques work within an inclusive classroom.
I have worked to create a behavioral management plan based entirely on students’ perceptions and ideas of what a successful classroom should be while linking it to the ethos of discipline with dignity This focused heavily on peer-to-peer interaction and responsibility, whereby the instructor serves as a mediator instead of a determiner.
As a teacher, I will be eager to promote student creation of behavioral expectations and work towards the school's policies and expectations in the development and implementation of all classroom management endeavors.
